BENITO MUSSOLINI
Fled to Switzerland and was converted to socialism.
1904- Returned to Italy and served his time in the army.
Became the editor of several socialist newspapers.
Advocated neutrality and called for Italian involvement.

Mussolini became leader of the Fascist Party.
Mussolini sent out his gangs to riot against Communists.
Marched on Rome and seized control of the government.
Benito was hesitant, but put himself at the head of the march.

Benito tightened his grip on Italy.
He bullied the Italian Parliament.
By 1925, Italy was a fascist dictatorship.

The first successful Fascist takeover was in Italy under Benito Mussolini.
7.
Mussolini was shot in the small village of Giulino di Mezzegra by a partisan leader on April 28, 1945. World War II ended on September 2, 1945. Benito Mussolini died before the war was over.
