  • Represented Italy

BENITO MUSSOLINI

  • Fled to Switzerland and was converted to socialism.
  • 1904- Returned to Italy and served his time in the army.
  • Became the editor of several socialist newspapers.
  • Advocated neutrality and called for Italian involvement.

BENITO MUSSOLINI

  • Mussolini became leader of the Fascist Party.
  • Mussolini sent out his gangs to riot against Communists.
  • Marched on Rome and seized control of the government.
  • Benito was hesitant, but put himself at the head of the march.

BENITO MUSSOLINI

  • Benito tightened his grip on Italy.
  • He bullied the Italian Parliament.
  • By 1925, Italy was a fascist dictatorship.

The first successful Fascist takeover was in Italy under Benito Mussolini.

Mussolini was shot in the small village of Giulino di Mezzegra by a partisan leader on April 28, 1945. World War II ended on September 2, 1945. Benito Mussolini died before the war was over.
