PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Becoming the Teacher

Miss Evans

Electric Circuit Quiz Boards

The Classroom

  • 7th Grade General Science
  • Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School

The content

  • Students were beginning to learn about electricity and different types of circuits.
  • They were introduced to the knowledge in 6th grade, but will build on it at this level.

the dilemma

  • 7th grade science has a standardized test (the CAP) that encompasses all of the content learned throughout the year. The date was fast approaching, but we still had new content to cover.

The Solution

  • Students were asked to create electric circuit boards on various topics that they had learned throughout the year. This would insure students understood the idea of circuits and allow them to review previous content.
  • When the projects were completed, students quizzed themselves using each others boards!

Each quiz board had to visually represent the topic the student was given. The example above shows a wind quiz board.

The students had to create 10 questions with the corresponding answers to place on the quiz boards.

Students were allow to get as creative with their boards as they wanted to!

If the correct answer was chosen (and the board was completed correctly) a light on the board will turn on indicating that the student got it right!

in the end...

  • This project allowed students to review for a standardized test in an untraditional, creative, and fun way.
  • It also connected what they were currently learning to previous material.

me as a teacher

  • This project shows that I can be creative and flexible with my lessons and incorporate content review.
  • In the future, I can adapt this project to different levels of students and made more difficult or more simple by adding or removing requirements.
