The Beatitudes

BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT, FOR THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

• This Beatitude means that if you are kind and follow God, you will be rewarded.
• It means that we should appreciate what we have.
• It means that just because we are wealthy does not mean we are rich in spirit.

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO MOURN, FOR THEY WILL BE COMFORTED.

• This Beatitude means that if someone is sad, you should comfort them.
• It means that if you help people when they are sad, you will be rewarded.
• It means that we should have empathy.

BLESSED ARE THE MEEK, FOR THEY WILL INHERIT THE LAND

• This beatitude means that we should stay humble and grateful.
• It means that if you are gentle and kind, you will be rewarded
• It also means to not be bossy, but to be patient, polite, and strong.

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, FOR THEY WILL BE SATISFIED

• This Beatitude means that you should act if you see something wrong.
• It means that we should stand up for ourselves and others.
• It tells us that we should follow Jesus’s example of helping others

BLESSED ARE THE MERCIFUL, FOR THEY WILL BE SHOWN MERCY.

• This Beatitude means that to be forgiven, we need to forgive others.
• It means that we should be kind to others and be willing to forgive.
• Forgiving others can be hard,but it is the right thing to do.

BLESSED ARE THE CLEAN OF HEART, FOR THEY WILL SEE GOD.

• This Beatitude means that we need to focus on God
• We need to make God and his will the center of our daily life.
• We need to hold God above all other things such as objects.

BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS, FOR THEY WILL BE CALLED CHILDREN OF GOD.

• This Beatitude means that we should not hold grudges and be peaceful.
• It means that we need to be at peace with ourselves.
• It means that we should spread love and kindness to the community.

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO ARE PERSECUTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, FOR THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.

• This Beatitude means that we should be proud of our faith and show God’s love to each other.
• Some people will not like it, and our love of God might be challenged.
• We need to show respect for others who have passed for standing up for their faith.
