BASIC INFORMATION

  • December 16, 1944
  • The German army surprises the Allies by attacking in the Ardennes to Antwerp.
  • Mountains of Belgium, France and Luxembourg.
  • The Allies slowly regain ground as weather improves and Air Force planes attack and drop supplies.

WHAT HAPPENED ?

  • On December 16, three German armies attacked with more than a quarter million troops.
  • They launched the deadliest and desperate battle of the war in the West.
  • In the poor roads and heavily forested Ardennes.

106TH DIVISION

  • They were inexperienced
  • They were nearly annihilated.
  • Even in defeat they helped Brigadier General Bruce Clarks to make a brilliant plan to defend St. Urth.
  • Part of the Allies.

OMAR BRADLEY

  • He was born in Randolph County, Missouri
  • February 12,1983
  • He served in WW2 and Korean War.
  • Died in April 8,1981(88)

OMAR BRADLEY

  • He used to work as a boiler maker before entering U.S. Military Academy.
  • He finished second in the West Point placement exams.
  • The first place couldn't accept the Congressional appointment, so Bradley took his place.

WHAT DID HE DO?

  • He turned back an aggressive German counter offensive.
  • Under his direction, they liberated Paris and ended the Nazi attempt to conquer Europe.

GENERAL GEORGE S. PATTON JR.

  • His role was to counterattack Germany in order to save the U.S.
  • He was on of the most contentious U.S. commanders in WWII.

GEORGE S. PATTON JR.

  • He was the best known general for his command of the Seventh United States Army.
  • In December 1945, Patton was killed in a car accident in Germany.
