BAND OF BROTHERS

A STORY ABOUT HOW HARD LIFE WAS IN THE WAR BY STEPHEN E. AMROSE

B = BROTHERHOOD/BOND

  • Grew great bonds that last forever.
  • Became instant friends.
  • Helped each other out.
  • Relied on one another.
  • Had at least one thing in common.

C = COMRADES

  • Closer than friends.
  • Got to know each other's life stores
  • Know who was who by the simplest things.
  • Not just a group, but as a whole an entity

E = EASY COMPANY

  • Was a hard, trying military league
  • Opened July 1942- November 30, 1945
  • Was a strong group of men

J = JOKES

  • The men would tell jokes to help their moods
  • Would form them around one in specific
  • Would mostly be curse words thrown in with a punch line
  • Joke would make their life just a bit better

K = KNOWING

  • Knowing your comrades
  • Knowing your place
  • Knowing what to do at what times
  • Knowing was everything

L = LETERS

  • Love letters where a prize
  • Letters where as seen as a type of currency almost
  • The more you had the more respected you would be
  • Letters of any kind kept the men going.

M = MARCHING

  • The Easy Company was a part of the largest march
  • Made a world record
  • The men were sore and one was got so bad could not walk any more
  • Got a lot of recognition after this

A- ALDBOURNE

  • Aldbourne, England.
  • Stayed here for 6 months
  • Would view this place as a vacation
  • Would get into fights with the locals

D = D-DAY

  • Military word
  • Was a saying for the initial time for an attack

F = FOXHOLES

  • A dug out for men to hide
  • To keep the men save in new territories
  • Had to be strong enough to hold large amount of weight

G = GEORGIA

  • Was one go the first places the men went to
  • Was home for the training base called Toccoa
  • Was where the men first met each other

H = HOSPITAL

  • Most men found them selves here
  • Some men would go here a few times
  • Most wounds where dealt with and fixed

I = IRELAND

  • Was on of the camps that they stayed at over seas
  • They were not accustomed to the locals ways
  • Had to always be on their best behavior

N = NOMINATED

  • A promotion
  • Easy would get a lot of officers
  • Only Winters stayed with them

O = OFFICERS

  • Different kind of officers
  • Most we're respected
  • Only referred to as "Sir"

P = PARACHUTE

  • After crazy amounts of training had to jump had to jump
  • Would feel foreign but it was intoxicating for some men
  • The Easy Company Men would do many and different kind of jumps

Q = QUICKLY

  • The men had to do so many thing very quickly
  • Quickly was the number one letter in their dictionary
  • Had drills they had to do quickly

R = RECOGNITION

  • Men would strive for positive recognition
  • Some would get negative recognition
  • When that would ware their uniforms

S = S.O.S

  • Was a special food/ a treat for the men in the training camps
  • Was a food of chipped beef cream on toast
  • It's actually really good with tuna!
  • Would be something the men would look forward to

T = TOCCOA

  • Was the fist base training camp.
  • Got really strong here
  • Did most of the physical training here
  • Was a hard a tough optical for most of the men

U = UNITED STATES

  • The men fought for us.
  • They saw us as the best country
  • We were the Yanks

V = VETERAN

  • The men who made it thought the war and got to go home softly we're known as veterans
  • Some who were wounded were released early
  • Said it was hard to live after the war

W = WAR

  • They had to fight in war
  • War was a difficult and scary thing
  • War is a cruel unforgiving concept that these men had to learn by themselves

Y= YEARS

  • They spent years in training and in the war
  • Years they couldn't see their family and friends
  • Years where they grew a bond to these men, the men they know now as brothers
