​The Han Dynasty (206 BCE - 220 CE)

  • The Han Dynasty was one of the longest of China’s major dynasties.
  • This was a period of progress and prosperity in China.
  • The Han Dynasty expanded the Chinese empire using a very strong army.
  • They were best known for their development of modern paper.
  • They fell because of growing population, financial difficulties and instability.

Sui Dynasty (581–618 CE)

  • Sui Wendy was father-in-law of the last emperor of Northern Zhou
  • After the emperor died, he established the Sui Dynasty
  • Sui Yangdi, second son of Sui Wendi led the dynasty to decline
  • Sui Dynasty finally surrendered to Tang Dynasty
  • Major Accomplishments were re-united China and built Grand Canal
