Connection: When Parvana stood up for her family in front of the soldiers it reminded me of the time I had to be brave when I was presenting a project in front of lots of judges. I was very nervous and I didn't want to mess up.But I was brave and ended up winning an award for my project .

Connection: When I read Nooria being bossy towards Parvana it reminded me of when I have been bossy. My little sister and I were playing one day and I was telling what we were going to play and she did not like it very much so she walked off and told on me. Since then I haven't been as bossy.

Connection: When I read that Shauzia was talking very energetically it reminded me of the time when I skated for the first time. At first I was kind of nervous but once I got the hang of it I got really excited and energetic. I actually got too excited that I fell over.

Connection: When I read Parvana seeing a mysterious face in the window behind where she worked it reminded me of the book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows." In the book Harry Potter had to travel by his broomstick to get home without being caught by Voldemort. He had to plan the escape very mysteriously do no one would know what he was doing.
