MY HUSBAND DEREK AND I GOT MARRIED THIS LAST DECEMBER

We have a small pile of fluff we call Vivian

I have 3 younger siblings: Connor, Jarrod, and Michelle

I spend all of my free time crafting. If there is a craft, I have probably tried it.

ACADEMIC

HISTORY

• I started as an accounting major before switching to English then finally education!

WHY ESU?

• I’m from Missouri and my husband is from Oklahoma so we met in the middle in Kansas.
• Emporia State had a respectable teacher’s college so I decided to apply and here I am!

STRENGTHS

• I am well organized and always prepared. If you need something, I probably have an extra in my bag.
• I take thorough notes and am willing to help classmates.

EDUCATOR

I CHOSE TO TEACH

WHY?

• I’m a 4th generation math teacher so it’s in my blood.
• Math gets a bad reputation and it shouldn’t!
• I want to positively impact the next generation.

TEACHING BELIEFS

• The most important skills taught in math are problem solving skills.
• Let students show understanding of material in their way.
• Application is more important for students than abstract concepts.

I WANT TO BE THE TEACHER THAT...

• Students say taught them to love math again
• Students feel they can approach
• Students say actually cares about them as people
