GEOGRAPHY

  • Surrounded by deserts or partially desert
  • In modern day Egypt, Syria, and Iraq
  • Where it is makes it a perfect place for trade
  • Babylonia and Assyria have some of the same land
  • Where the city is, makes it a perfect place for farming

TIME FRAME

  • Assyria rose 2400 BC
  • The assyrians fell to the Medes and Chaldeans in 612 BC
  • After several centuries of obscurity and even loss of independence-
  • Around 1400 B.C

TRADE

  • Where syria was placed it made it a trade cross road
  • They traded for cotton from india
  • They traded spices from egypt
  • Trade made Assyria rich
  • They used different trade routes and 500 years later, they made another one.

  • Which meant the person who was head of the government

  • He lead a very talented and complex army
It was the most powerful monarchy in the early world.

  • The asyrians invented the battering ram
  • Blacksmiths and metal workers made bronze and iron weapons and armor

  • The main gods were based on nature
  • They have gods about heaven, religion, water, moon, sun, and storms

WRITING

  • They had scribes that wrote on clay tablets
  • They spoke and wrote in Cuneiform

ARCHITECTURE

  • Had thick walls that supported a double row of columns
  • Flat roofs houses
  • The columns were made of wood
  • They made palaces and houses out of mud bricks
  • Stone slabs at the bottom of the house walls called orthostats
