Express tests create tests automatically from test bank items. Currently this is only available for ELA and Math and the test bank items are limited for some grade levels. Use Express if you are making an ELA/Math test and plan to use multiple questions from the test bank or use those plus your own. Do NOT use Express if you want to use reading passages from the test bank.
Manual is for making your own test from scratch. You can still use test bank items, but can add them individually. You can also add reading passages from item central much easier. Use manual if you are any other content area other than ELA/Math, if you have your own test you will enter, you want more control over test bank items, or if you are using reading passages from item central.
Multiple Choice: Each question has multiple answers True/False: Each question has a “True” or “False” answer
Gridded: This question requires a numeric answer; the student must fill the appropriate grid numbers with the correct answer
Open Response: A typed in response to the proposed question
Inline Response: Allows for the creation of fill-in- the-blank questions. The question will be limited to a total of 9 blanks or gaps.
Matching: Matching items test a student’s ability to identify associations between related items. This item type allows for up to 18 question stems and available choices to be defined.
Lookup In Item Central: Search for items already created to add to your test. Items in state bank or your saved bank items.
Save your own items to Item Central, share with others, or use yourself later on other assessments. Great for turning small quizzes into a summative assessment.
Give yourself plenty of time on the test dates, but don't worry...even after students start taking the test these can be changed by going to Schedule Settings.
Always use Schoolnet Browser Test Tunnel.
Make the passcode simple, but unique.
When using reading passages do NOT scramble question order.
When using CPS do NOT scramble question OR answer order.
If this is your first test...log-in as a student, take the test...and see what the student sees. How can you explain the process to students if you've never seen it? You can delete the results afterwards, so don't worry!
AKA...REALLY AWESOME PART OF ADMINISTERING ASSESSMENTS
Use the proctor dashboard to see how students are performing, run CPS assessments, and quickly score tests afterwards.
When giving CPS assessments, you can tell students their score as soon as the assessment is over. One idea is to simply tell them their score when they turn their clicker in, or as you watch write the score on a post-it and give it to the student.
From here you can see individual student responses, change them, and grade open response items.
At the bottom of the student responses you can delete all student results.
On the left, if you've included open responses you can choose Score All Open Responses, which allows you to score ALL student responses for a particular question at once.
There are multiple ways to view student data for both the assessments you give, common/district/benchmark assessments, and standardized assessments.
The easiest way to view assessment results for a course is to look at the course summaries on the homepage of CIITS. The rest of the assessment analysis is under Classrooms and Student Performance.
Choose your class sections, and then look at some of the data options. Many of the elements are clickable and lead you to more data.
