Types: For/of/ As Learning 

FOR/ AS/ Of

  • Assessments are a Teachers way to understand what to teach, how to teach, and what the students have learned
  • They can be used to give the teacher an understanding of what students already know, in order to work towards new skills and goals
  • not all assessments are marked!
  • For - is a diagnostic tool
  • As- is a check in along the way
  • Of- is a summation of learning
  • Assessments should be varied and in line with student learning and styles.

RUBRICS

  • Are used to give feedback to students, and demonstrate where marks are coming from
  • they are a communication tool and serve as a way to show what was needed for success
  • Level 1 - 4 are the general guide (4 is highest achievement)
  • These levels correspond with the letter grades F- through A+

KICA and weights

KICA

  • Knowledge
  • Inquiry
  • Communication
  • Application
  • these categories are weighted depending on the course, but total 100% of the mark breakdown
  • These groups classify what type of information is being marked, and where the marks come from

Modification and Accomodation

  • If your student requires an IEP for learning, they may be Accomodated or Modified in the assessment style or strategy or format
  • The Teacher will take this into consideration for marking and grading, and when giving an assessment
