Abiotic

Generally found in tropical forests, but some have been known to thrive in agricultural areas such as coffee plantations.

Shelter in trees, but also shelter in dense thorny undergrowth on the ground.

They have a wide range in Asia that they live in. (Amur region in the Russian Far East over the Korean Peninsula, China Indo-China, the Indian Subcontinent, to the West in northern Pakistan, & to the south in the Philippines & the Sunda islands of Indonesia.

Nocturnal (although some are out during the day).

Avoid areas where snow is more than 10 cm deep.

Intolerant of temperatures above 95 degrees.

Good climbers / semi arboreal

Can live in higher elevation (ex. the foothills of the Himalayas at altitudes above 1000 m).

They are solitary and prefer to sleep in small caves or hollow trees.

They are excellent swimmers and often need a reliable water source nearby.

biotic

Two of the eleven known subspecies are endangered, and the main causes are from humans hunting for their fur and meat and deforestation.

Their diet consists of small mammals such as rodents and hares, small reptiles, insects, and fish.

Their main predators are larger wild cats like tigers and leopards, along with wild dogs and the occasional large snake.

They breed year-round and they give birth
birth to 1-4 kittens after a gestation period of 65-70 days.

They usually paid up for life and raise their kittens together for about 7-10 months.
