INTRO TO ART THERAPY

  • Art therapy is useful for people who struggle to communicate verbally
  • or have trouble expressing their feelings. Art therapy is using artistic
  • methods to treat psychological disorders and enhance mental health.
  • It can be used on people of all ages.
  • Art therapy was created during the middle of the 20th century.

CONT.

  • Working hours: 37.5 hours per week.
  • Starting salary: $25,000+ per year.
  • Average hourly wage is $18.95

SKILLS NEEDED

  • To become an art therapist, you will need to have:
  • experience of working in the arts
  • a non-judgemental attitude
  • the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds
  • a strong interest or background in psychology

  • empathy and the ability to gain clients’ trust
  • strong communication and listening skills
  • a flexible and adaptable approach

  • You need a degree in psychology, nursing or social work.

WHY I CHOSE THIS

  • I chose this career because it looked interesting to me. It looks
  • fun to do. I like to help people and I am nice, caring, and I am
  • good at art.

  • You will have to plan out the day and make an art project with a patient.
  • The assignment is to make a collage of 8-10 pictures that represent you.
