WATER AS ART

LANGUAGE CONNECTS WATER TO PLACE
Maybe this is a concept that the Clarence should connect with. The conversation of piping the Clarence inland continues. We need the cultural importance and story for all in the Clarence.

On the morning of this talk the SMH had a State Govt. Report that claimed that the policy were putting environment before people. This expert was talking about Aboriginal knowledge and management - it is the environment that supports the people...

Questions:
* Could we develop a river rangers program?? There is curriculum to support this.
* Our water our country - YouTube linking with students

ABORIGINAL MUSIC

VALUE, EDUCATION, LANGUAGE & CONNECTIONS
Music is a great way to link to Aboriginal culture. It is storytelling and connects emotionally.

This reinforces the projection project.

ROLE OF ALLIES

CALLING OUT RACISM - TRAINING IS SUPPORT FROM THE ORGANISATION
It is not enough for the Aboriginal community to bring change and awareness. Having a big ‘white’ organisation support the conversation and change is important

ON COUNTRY - OFF COUNTRY

ABORIGNAL LAW OF A REACTION TO THE COUNTRY
There is a cultural challenge in the fact that the land is part of all elements. Think of the reaction to people climbing Uluru. People felt it was a birth right. Now think about the reaction to activists climbing the opera house - a man made structure. The offence taken, by the community over Uluru climbs was personal. This is why cultural competency for the organisation is vital.

LOCAL EMERGING ARTIST PROGRAMS

Bathurst has a mentoring program - LEAP. This is way to build local capacity but also bring the audience (to support our youth). A partnership across organisation, would be amazing.
