GEORGIN O KEEFFE

  • Born: November 15, 1887, Sun Prairie, WI Died: March 6, 1986, Santa Fe, NM

ART MOVEMENT

  • Georgia Totto O'Keeffe was an American artist. She was best known for her paintings of enlarged flowers, New York skyscrapers, and New Mexico landscapes. O'Keeffe has been recognized as the "Mother of American modernism".

INTERESTING FACTS

  • She made over 200 flower paintings.
  • She used watercolor, pencil, and clay to make her artwork.
  • Photographer and art dealer Alfred Stieglitz gave O'Keeffe her first gallery show in 1916.
