PRESENTATION OUTLINE

AromaRama

What is AromaRama?
Aroma Rama was a technique created by Charles Weiss in the 50's in order to tear people away from their television sets.

AromaRama worked by pumping smells through the air conditioning system. They then mixed freon gas with it to diffuse the smells.

The only film AromaRama featured in was the 1959 film 'Behind the Great Wall'.

However, this technique was not a success among movie-goers, as the smells did not diffuse well and often combined to make a putrid stench.

The gimmick was also costly and would set theatres back roughly $4200-7200 in 50's money.

AromaRama was considered a rip off of another film technique of the time called 'Smell-o-vision'. Smell-o-vision used similar techniques to AromaRama, however, the technology used to pump the smells were more advanced.
