Aristotle

Overview

Aristotle was born in 384 BC in Stagira, Greece
He also died in 322 BC in Chalcis, Greece
He studied at Platonic Academy in 367-347 BC
After Plato(his instructor) died he moved to Lesbos
He then married Pythias and had a daughter named Pythias

Positive Effects

"Logic" is Aristotle's is his best contribution to science and philosophy
Aristotle's logical system is his answer to the structure of language
While making logic Aristotle made up some of his own terminology

Syllogisms are structures of sentences each of which can meaningfully be called true or false: assertions. in Aristotle's terminology. According to Aristotle, every such sentence must have the same structure: it must contain a subject and predicate and must either affirm or deny the predicate of the subject. Thus, every assertion is either the affirmation or the denial of a single predicate of a single subject.

Negative Effects

Aristotle thought that light would not move through an empty universe
Albert Einstein prove that theory wrong in 1910
Aristotle also believed that masses moved depending on how big they were
Galileo Galilei proved that wrong
Galileo said that No matter the mass objects will accelerate the same rate
