COLUMNS

• Developed three types of columns that were often used:
• Doric: Simple with no base, thins out towards the top
• Ionic: Thin with a base, curls at top (shown in background)
• Corinthian: Complex with a base, leaf design at top

TEMPLE ANATOMY

• Triangles at top: pediments
• Group of statues at top: a frieze
• The sculptures themselves: metopes
• Main room: holds a huge statue of a god or godesses
