Freshwater Ecosystem

• There are two types of freshwater ecosystems 
• lakes
• ponds
• river 
• streams

Ponds and Lakes

• The animals are things like fish and frogs
• They adapt by staying near the surface 
• The plants are things like bacteria 
• It adapts by staying near the surface also

Rivers and Streans

• The plants here are things like roots
• They adapt by sticking to the bottom
• The animals are things like

Marine Ecosystems

• In a marine ecosystem there are things like
• estuaries
• inter tidal zones
• Neretic zones
• surface zone and deep ocean zones 

Estuaries and Inter tidal zones

• An estuary is where a river meets an ocean
• An inter tidal zone is at shore
• It has to adapt to waves and inconsistent temperatures
• An estuary is where freshwater meets saltwater
• star fish and small things live here

Neritic  zone

• In the neritic zone it is easy for photosynthesis to occur
• Water is shallow
• Schools of fish
• They have to adapt to the shallow water

Surface zone

• Light goes down only a few hundred meters
• fish and some big sea creatures live here
• They have to adapt to the light

Deep Zone

• In the deep zone they have to adapt to the light
• They have to find food
• It is almost pitch black
• Not many organisms live down here
• No plants live down here
