  • Appositive- additional information that is not needed in the sentence.
  • Appositive phrase- a noun phrase that renames the noun that follows.

Examples

  • Greg, my friend, is going to the game.
  • My dog, Rex, likes to run.
  • My favorite movie, Hunger Games, is cool.

Personal Examples

  • People wear green on only one holiday, St. Patrick's day.
