OUR THESIS

  • The Apollo 13 mission was a great thing and a bad thing as well because umm they went farther than any other human on the planet, they survived five days with less water then a normal humano actually needs. They had to survive in freezing temperatures.

THE LAUNCH AND LANDING DATES & PLACES

  • They launched in cape Canaveral Florida on April 11,1970
  • They landed in water near Australia on April 17,1970

CREW AND THERE ASTRONAUT LIFE

  • Crew: Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and John Swigert.
  • They were born in the 1920's and 1930's.
  • The captain was Jim Lovell. Age 81
  • Jack Swigert was 51 at the age of death
  • Fred Haise is 81
  • Only two astronauts are alive.

THE EVENTS OF THE FLIGHT

  • During the flight 200,000 miles away from earth Jim Lovell switched on fans to stare the oxygen and hydrogen. A few seconds later a lite explosion that shock the air craft made all oxygen levels off and the fight to save the astronauts had begun.

EVENTS OF THE FLIGHT PART 2

  • With only a few days of oxygen and less than needed water the astronauts made daring decisions with mission control working days of overtime to bring them home. They went and circled the moon and put them on a course for earth. With everything going full blast and with no hesitation the astronauts fell back into the earths atmosphere. Fear of heat shields being burnt of or damaged by the explosion the astronauts fell in odise to the ocean with five thousand degrees of heat right in front of them. They made it savly back to planet earth.

QUESTION ONE AND RESEARCH ABOUT IT.

  • Who was the captain of the shuttle and what did he do to make the safe landing?
  • He is Jim Lovell and he made sure that the three astronauts made it home with the supplies they had that was limited.
  • With limited supplies Jim Lovell and mission control called all the shots and shot around the dark side of the moon. With less time than ever Jim Lovell prepared them for the landing... It was a success.

QUESTION 2 WITH SUPPORT

  • What did mission control do to work with the captain and the crew?
  • They communicated withe astronaut by sending sound waves by space dishes to a dish on the shuttle, and if the shuttle dish broke then the mission control would be without contact with the astronauts.
  • They had to communicate by voice which means the astronauts had to work on unfamiliar things.

QUESTION 3 WITH ANSWER

  • Pre the astronauts living?
  • The answer is no John Swigert died because of lung cancer and he had a kidney problem in space during Apollo 13.
  • Jim Lovell and frank Haise are still living today.

QUESTION FOUR AND ANSWER

  • Was the mistake of the oxygen tank explosion, the fault of mission control?
  • The answer is actually yes and no because it was not the scientist but it was the fault of the inspector that looked at the shuttle before flight because he said that the shuttle was good to fly but it had a small fire the day before but it was not counted for by inspectors.

QUESTION FIVE WITH ANSWER

  • Did the shuttle go on fire at the time the oxygen tank exploded?
  • Yes because the oxygen and the hydrogen had a reaction with space and caused a small fire but not too big because fire needs oxygen.
  • Also the day before there was a fire in or near where it exploded and was not accounted for.

CONCLUSION

  • With fear of heat shields being destroyed from the explosion, four minutes went by with out a word from the astronauts. In the next minute the spacemen would land from a flight that changed history and changed how we look at science today.
