PRESENTATION OUTLINE

APIAKA

DANIELA OSCURA - ALEXA MARQUEZ

Apiaka is a language from Brazil which is being supplanted by portuguese.

The apiaka language belongs to the tupí-guaraní family of languages.

They are located along the great Arinos, Juruena and Teles Pires rivers.

It had only 1,000 speakers in 2009, but today there are only four people aged over 50 who speak and understand the apiaka language.

We have never heard someone speaking this language because of the place where it comes from.

We believe that it's easier for the people to speak a more common language; portuguese

A part of the culture of Brazil is dying with this language; children should be learning about it with enculturation.

We think that globalization is one of the mainly reasons why many languages around the world are dying
