APARTHEID

WHAT IS APARTHEID

  • It is a system of segregation or discrimination.

WHITES AND BLACKS

  • The percentage of white people in South Africa is 9.1%.
  • Blacks is 76.4%.

WHERE THE WHITES CAME FROM

  • They mostly came from English speaking countries such as the U.K.,Ireland,Canada, Australia,New Zealand, and the USA.

WHERE AND WHEN

  • It happened in South Africa.
  • It went from 1948 to 1994.

EVENTS THAT LET TO APARTHEID

  • The first and second boer wars caused tension between the races.

HOW APARTHEID GOVERNMENT CAME INTO POWER

  • When The national government gained power it immediately began enforcing Apartheid.

THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON TO DO WITH APARTHEID

  • Nelson Mandela- He was the president of South Africa and he ended apartheid.

HOW IT ENDED

  • Through a series of negotiations after South Africa was united.

IF I WAS THERE

  • If I was black during that time I would have hated who started it.
  • If I was white during this time would have not liked the people who started it but not as much.

WHAT I WOULD'VE DONE

  • I would have started a revolution but I would be smart about it.
