APACHE INDIANS

SHELTER

• Apache would bend young trees make a U shape
• It was small and could barely fit a family but they had no furniture
• So they could leave quick and leave no trail of there presence
• Called wickiups and teepes
• Made from leaves,branches,sapling

LOCATION

• Arrived around 1528
• Came from Canada but went south
• Spanish explores found of there presence and
• Said "theres new people" But later died of European diseases
• They now live in Arizona, New Mexico but a very few apache are still around

FOOD

• They dried acorn cakes,and shredded meat and soups
• On there journey
• They ate corn, pumpkins,watermelon, and hunted buffalo

KIND OF TRIBE

• The Apache were Hunters and hunted in groups of 4
• Originally were farmers in Canada but changed to hunters in texas
• And they hunted buffalos a lot

CLOTHES

• Men wore Deer skin shirt,leggings,moccasins,
• Deer skin caps and men wore hair with a bandana
• Woman wore short deerskin skirts and
• High boot top moccasins girls wore hair down

ENVIROMENT

• Apache enviroment had a lot of trees
• Plains and mountains
• Tempertures were very dry and hot but
• Winters were mild
• Also Apache were always living in fear doing thing they were scared of

RELGION

• They believed in spirits and that Every living thing has a spirit
• Apache cleaned themselves a lot believed washed away bad luck and evil spirits
• Apache would perform Mountain Spirit dance because they belivied there ancestors were Trees and rocks
• So when they prayed to spirits they were also praying to ancestors

• They used it everyday, if a girl turns 13 she gets 4 day feast
• They also had 4 hunters in a group
