  • Cold or sweaty hands

CHARACTERISTICS OF ANXIETY AND PANIC

WHO IS MORE LIKELY TO DEVELOP IT?

PANIC- 6 million people have it, 2.7% Of U.S population. Women are twice as likely to develop it.

ANXIETY- 40 million effected, 18% of U.S. population. Women are twice as likely as men to get it.


TREATMENT:

PANIC AND ANXIETY DISORDER CAN BE TREATED MEDICALLY, WITH PHYSIOLOGICAL COUNSELING, OR INDEPENDANTLEY

SELF TREATMENT

  • Learn to manage stress in your life.
  • Do relaxation techniques.
  • Replace negative talk with positive uplifting talk.
  • Talk with someone supportive.
  • Meditate.
  • Exercise.
  • Long baths and sitting in a dark room.

The quality of life may be restricted due to the severity of the disorder. Some may go through life and be able to ease the problem others it may be too severe and be admitted into a mental hospital, it all depends on the mental state.

Studies shown people with moderate to severe anxiety and panic disorders have a lower life expectancy. Reason being is because doctors say along with anxiety and panic disorders come bad lifestyle factors such as lack of exercise, weight gain, diabetes, alcohol, and smoking.

HOW CAN YOU GET IT?

The exact cause of anxiety and panic disorders is unknown, like many other mental illnesses. However, it's become clear that many of these disorders are caused by a combination of factors including changes in the brain ad environmental stress.

FACTS:

  • Anxiety and Panic are the most common mental illness in the U.S.
  • It is hereditary. If one or both parents have it, the chance for the offspring is 2/3.
  • Anxious people have larger personal space. The average persons is 10-20inches, a person with anxiety is 40+.
  • Anxiety is a predominate factor for heart disease.
