There are a few reasons why teens use drugs, and they include peer pressure, depression, influence of media, stress, and curiosity.

Peer pressure: A lot of teens have no interest of using drugs until their peers mention it. It is hard to say no to a group of friends or people at school who are suggesting you do drugs with them. Although it is very hard to stand by your statement, it is important that you do so because using drugs has many harmful effects to your body, mind, brain, and emotions. One example would be that it can cause many different medical conditions such as heart attacks, and brain damage.

Depression: This is another big reason why many teens use drugs. They are depressed or have other mental/emotional issues, and often times, they turn to drugs to try to escape from their problems. Instead of turning to drugs, they should seek help to cure their depression because it will not get better with drugs. Drugs will only make the situation worse and put the teen in danger.

Influence of Media: Because media is so popular among teens, it is almost impossible for them to not see anything that suggests high risk behaviors. Similar to peer pressure, the media can convince teens to use drugs, maybe to try to fit in, or for other reasons. However, they should not give in to the influence and should always avoid drugs because it will cause many problems in their life and could even ruin it.

Stress: This is a big reason why many teens use drugs. They may have issues at school or in their family that makes them stressed. As a way to relieve their stress, many teens turn to drugs in hopes of seeking happiness. Instead of using drugs, they should find someone to talk to, maybe their school counselor, their parents, a friend, or a coach. This will help them to release their stress and feel like they have someone to talk to and ask for help. This will also keep them away from the dangers of drugs.

Curiosity: There are quite a lot of teens who try drugs because they are curious and want to experiment. This could be caused by people at school or at home using drugs. These teens should not try drugs at all because there is a high chance of them getting addicted and can't stop. This will ruin their life and cause many mental and health problems, most of which are irreversible.
