Anti-Bullying

Creating an advertising campaign                  english@cromwellcollege

We are going to look at an advertising campaign used to fight bullying in high schools and colleges in the USA. It asks girls to,
'Gang up for good'.

Girls were asked to "speak no evil"

The campaign is called 'Mean Stinks'. The campaign goes across a wide range of social media channels like Facebook and Twitter.

Teenage girls are the target Audience

facebook, youtube, twitter, instagram ... Are all used to appeal to girls

In advertising, a target audience, is a specific group of people that a product or a message is aimed at. For example, if a company sells new diet programmes for men with heart problems (target market) the advertisements may be aimed at the man's partner (target audience) who may do most of the shopping and cooking .

The 'Mean Stinks'
campaign was created by P&G's, the makers of 'Secret' Deodorant. The campaign provides a platform for girls to speak out about an important issue in their lives. Bullying.

This campaign is a success. It has created brand awareness (girls bought the deodorants!) and on the brand's Twitter account and on its Facebook page, girls found challenges, tips, and tools to help them learn the best ways to prevent bullying. 'Secret' was able to deliver anti-bullying messages through its campaign and create loyalty for their brand.
