Anorexia Nervosa (anorexia for short) means nervous loss of appetite. A person with anorexia has a fear of gaining weight and will usually starve his/herself in order to stay skinny. Usually girls between the ages of 14-17 develop the disorder.

CAUSES OF ANOREXIA:

A person will get a distorted view of them self and they will believe they are a lot heavier than they actually are.

Studies have shown if a relative has suffered from anorexia, a person is 11 times more likely to develop the disorder.

A lot of anorexics develop the disorder because of depression.

Sometimes, if someone wants to be anorexic, they become "wannarexic" which is when someone will act and do things that anorexics do (not eat).

SYMPTOMS OF ANOREXIA:

Weight loss, physical development slows, mensturation often stops, or sudden illnesses.

People who suffer from anorexia are often hospitalized and fed through stomach tubes or veins.

A lot of anorexics see a physiatrist or other therapist.

Mental and physical treatment usually takes years and some never recover mentally.

Anorexia is extremely dangerous and can be deadly.
