  • Hitler becomes chancellor of Germany.
  • The Franks decide to move to the Netherlands.

MAY 10,1940-THE GERMAN ARMY INVADES THE NETHERLANDS

SEPTEMBER 1,1941

  • Anne and Margot are no longer allowed to go to school with non-Jewish children.
  • All Jews aged 6 or older must wear a yellow Star of David

JULY 1942

  • Anne's older sister, Margot, receives a call-up notice to report for deportation.
  • The Frank family goes into hiding.
  • The Van Pels joins the Franks into hiding.

OCTOBER 5,1942-HEINRICH HIMMLER GIVES THE ORDER TO TRANSPORT ALL JEWS TO AUSCHWITZ

NOVEMBER 16,1942-FRITZ PFEFFER JOINS THE FRANKS AND VAN PELS INTO HIDING.

AUGUST 4, 1944

  • Residents of the Secret Annex are betrayed and arrested.
  • They are taken to a police station.
  • They are later sent to Westerbork transit camp.

SEPTEMBER 3,1944

  • The eight prisoners are transported to Auschwitz.
  • The men and women are separated.

OCTOBER 1944

  • Anne, Margot, and Mrs. Van Pels are transported to the Bergen-Belsen.
  • Edith Frank remains at the sub camp.

  • Edith Frank dies at Auschwitz-Birkenau.
  • Otto Frank is liberated from Auschwitz by the Russian army.

MARCH 15,1945-BERGEN-BELSEN CONCENTRATION CAMP IN GEMANY IS LINERATED.

JUNE 3,1945

  • Otto Frank arrives in Amsterdam.
  • He knows that his wife has died.
  • He doesn't know that Anne and Margot have died too.

OCTOBER 24,1945

  • Otto Frank receives a letter informing him that his daughters have died.
  • Miep gives Anne's diary to Otto.

SUMMER 1947-FIRST 1,500 COPIES OF ANNE'S DIARY ARE PUBLISHED IN AMSTERDAM
