What does your animal look like?
Tiger quolls have a wet and a moist pink noise, bright eyes and sharp teeth for eating prey. The have a pointed nose and a really long tail. Their fur has a rough texture and is red-brown but can also be dark brown with white spots. The tiger quolls mainly have a pale stomach.

What is the average size of the female and male?
The average size of the female tiger quoll is; 35cm-45cm this is the length from the head to the end of the body. The tail adds an extra 34cm-42cm. They can weigh up to about 4kg. The height is around about 10cm-20cm. The average size of the male tiger quoll is; 38cm-76cm this is the length from the head to the end of the body. The tail adds an extra 37cm-55cm. They can weigh about 7kg. Their height is about 12cm-23cm.

How does your animal keep cool in summer and warm in winter?
The Tiger Quolls keep warm in winter by staying in their den and technically cuddling themselves. They stay cool in summer by just being normal because although living in Australia they live in the cooler parts so they don't really have to think about it.
Also it's normally wet where they live so it doesn't get to hot, just humid.

How long does your animal live?
The tiger quoll lives for approximately five years. They only live for this long when they are living in the correct habitat.

Where does the animal live naturally in Australia?
The tiger quoll mainly lives in Tasmania. It has only recently due to wildlife experts come back in Eastern Victoria and New South Wales.

Describe the habitat that your animal lives in:
The habitat the the tiger quoll lives in are mainly, rainforests, dry forests, sclerophyll forest, costal health and scrub. These places are usually wet and cool, if not humid. They also have big trees and lots of places for the tiger quoll to build a den in.

How does the climate change during the year?
The climate in which the tiger quoll lives are mainly very humid, hot, wet and dry. The habitat they live in is the same throughout the year.

What does your animal eat?
The tiger quoll's are carnivores so they mostly eat; insects, birds, frogs, lizards, possums and rabbits.

How does your animal catch its food?
Unlike the Tasmanian Devil the tiger quoll doesn't scavenge. Even though extremely similar the tiger quoll catches its prey by practically getting an easy meal (opportunistic). For example, if it saw a rabbit cleaning itself it would find that as an easy meal and hunt it. If it has to the tiger quoll will scavenge.

What does your animal do during its habitat during the day?
The tiger quolls are nocturnal so they are usually sleeping during the day. It is extremely rare to see a tiger quoll hunting or prowling during the day, nut sometimes they do.

Where does your animal sleep? Does it build a home for itself?
The tiger quoll's live in hollow trees or in and around rocks. For the young the parents build little nursery dens for them to stay in.

What predators does your animal have?
The predators/threats the the tiger quoll has are, land clearing and habitat loss, factory farming, roads, cane toads, wild dogs, dogs, cats, foxes, wedge-tailed Eagles, dingoes, pythons, large forest owls and goannas.

How does your animal protect itself from predators?
The tiger quoll isn't know to protect themselves from predators but they are usually found in trees or in and around rocks which usually protects them anyway, although the tiger quolls are slowly becoming extinct so their predators/threats are slowly getting the best of them.

How does the animal find its partner?
The tiger quolls find their partner by using mating calls. If one call appeals to the opposite gender then they will mate and produce young.

At what age does your animal begin to reproduce?
Tiger quolls only live for about 4-5 years so they rarely breed any later than 3 years. So they mainly begin to reproduce at the age of 2.

At what time of year does your animal breed?
Tiger quolls breed once a year, in the times of autumn and winter (between May and August).

In what form does your animal produce young?
The tiger quolls are mammals so they produce live young and then kept in their mothers pouch.

How many young does it produce in one season?
In one season the tiger quoll produces up to 6 young.

How does it look after its young and how long for?
The tiger quolls look after their young by keeping them in a pouch. Once to big they are left behind in a nursery den while the mother hunts. The young normally stay with their mother until about 100 days old.

Does it defend its young?
Tiger quolls keep their young safe by keeping them in the pouch when they are younger and once bigger they are kept in a den with the father watching them while the mother gets food for them.
