DEFERENT PHASES OF MENSTRUATION

  • Oestrogen secreted by the Graffian follicles
  • Progesterone is secreted by corpusluteam
  • Relaxin
  • Androgen

OESTROGEN

  • There are 3 internal ovarian secretions namely a) oestradiol, b) oestrone, c) oestriol
  • These are secreted by Graffian follicles
  • Secretion beings at the time of ovulation.

FUNCTIONS OF OESTROGEN

  • Development and growth of vagina,uterus,Fallopian tubes and ovaries
  • Development of uterus endometrium during proliferative stage of menstrual cycle
  • Growth of uterus during pregnancy
  • Stimulation of fat, protein metabolism
  • Skeletal growth is also stimmulated

PROGESTERONE

  • It is derived from the corpus lutea
  • It is secreted mainly from the ovary but the little is secreted from the placenta and adrenal cortex

FUNCTIONS OF PROGESTERONE

  • Premenstrual stimulation of oestrogen
  • Prepare the endometrium for menstrual cycle
  • Progesterone sustained released during pregnancy
  • Protects pregnancy by preventing uterine contraction
  • Progesterone is inhibit menstruation during pregnancy

MENSTRUATION

  • A cycle phase of the flow of blood,with sheds of endometrium etc., from the uterus of a women at monthly intervals is called menstruation
  • It occurs on an average of 28 days interval and last for about 4days.
  • It starts from the age of puberty and cycle continuous till menopause

RELAXIN

  • It is the hormone present in pregnancy mammalian ovary,placenta and uterus.
  • It's level reaches maximum at the terminal stages of pregnancy
  • It's useful in affecting parturition

ANDROGEN

  • Small amount of testosterone present in females
  • It is responsible for development of libido
