WHAT IS A DIGIPAK?

A Digipak is an alternative to the jewel casing used by popular record companies. They are an eco-friendly alternative as they made from a recycled, yet, sturdy board, and fitted with a clear plastic tray which holds the CD/DVD, along with other media products. They usually consist of gate folded or outer binding style, which hold the CD/DVD inside. They are a registered trademark of AGI-Shorewood, an Atlas Holdings LLC company.

WHY ARE THEY MADE?

The primary advantage of the digipack was their aesthetic appeal. They looked nice, and many bands and labels liked to use them for their premium feel and style. Even though digipaks did not have the same lifespan as the jewel casing, they do not crack. However they do start to show rips and marks as they get used over time.

WHAT IS THE AGE DEMOGRAPHIC OF DIGIPAK PURCHASERS?

Digipaks do not have a specific demographic, which means that the artists that use the digipak packaging do not exclude any specific demographics.

ARE THEY MADE FOR FANS? WHAT DO THEY OFFER?

Digipaks are not made specifically for fans however they are sometimes used for premium packaging, which the artist fans are more likely to buy. Therefore, they do not offer anything greater for the audience and are primarily used as an alternative to other casing.

HOW MUCH DO THEY COST?

Digipak's typically cost between £5 and £11. They price generally changes depending on the content and on how popular the artist is. This is because popular artists will have a larger audience how are more willing to purchase their digipak's, whereas, someone with a small audience is less likely to risk selling a high price as this could reduce sales, but by having a small price they are more likely to be brought out of interest.
