WHAT'S A DESIGN BRIEF?

  • Get in pairs and nominate one to get an ipad
  • Log on and go to technology student.com
  • Go to "design process detailed version"
  • Click on design problem and design brief
  • Write down the difference between design problem and brief

OUTCOMES

  • All: Have analysed your design brief
  • Most: create a mind map of possible themes
  • Some: have devised a questionairre for research

HOW DO WE ANALYSE A DESIGN BRIEF?!

  • Its a series of questions we need to find out
  • Its a list of things you need to find out
  • It can include materials, size, tools, aesthetics
  • You should also try and find possible answers!!

BRAINSTORM POSSIBLE THEMES

  • After analysing your brief...
  • You need to mind map possible themes
  • You can include key words AND images!
  • Add colour and lay out neatly for a high level

MIND MAP SUCCESS CRITERIA

  • Level 3: Basic list of themes
  • Level 4: Sketches added
  • Level 5: Rendered and laid out creatively
  • You have 25 mins!!

WHY USE QUESTIONNAIRES IN RESEARCH?

  • In groups discuss why questionnaires can help designers
  • Read through technology student app
  • Record on a post it what you think
  • Is it important or not?

MAKE YOUR OWN QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Devise a list of questions to find what your target market prefers
  • You should use "closed" questions (give them a choice of two things)
  • Now collect your data with your tally chart
  • Update your bar chart to show your data and what you have learnt
  • You ned to write how this will help with your designing
