Definition:
An analogy makes comparison or relationship between sets of words, objects, or figures.

The Three Step Method

Step:1 build a bridge sentence.
Abridge sentence shows how the words relate.

Step:2 use the bridge sentence with each answer choice.

Step:3 if not sure about answer, (adjust the bridge sentence) or change

Types Of Analogy

Function

Definition : what it is use for or it's purpose.

Example: crayon : to draw :: phone: talk

Degree

Definition: different levels of something

Cute: adorable:: smart: genius

Lacking

Definition: to be missing something

Example: dumb: smart:: disobeying: respect

Characteristic

Definition: description of something

Example: food: delicious:: ice: cold

Definition

Definition: gives meaning or explanation

Type/ kind

Definition: explains a category something is in

Example: pink: color:: North Carolina: state

Part to/ whole

Definition: one thing is part of another

Definition: where something lives
