Thunderstorms
Thunderstorms are storms with thunder and lightning and typically also rain or hail.

What does thunderstorms look like?
When a thunderstorm is happening the sky gets dark and the clouds come down low.

How is a thunderstorm formed?
Thunderstorms is produced by a cumulonimbus cloud,usually producing gusty winds, heavy rain and sometimes hail.
The basic ingredients used to make a thunderstorm are moisture,unstable air and lift.
You need moisture to form clouds and rain and you relatively warm and can rise rapidly .

How damaging is a thunderstorm?
Thunderstorms can damage car windows and it can cause trees to fall and it can cause major flooding.

A tornado is a mobile, destructive vortex of violently winds having the appearance of a funnel shaped cloud and advancing beneath a large storm.

What does a tornadoes
A tornado looks like a spinning cloud.

How is a tornado formed?

A tornado begins in a severe thunderstorm called a supercell.
A supercell can last longer than a regular thunderstorm. The same property that keeps the storm going also produces most tornadoes. The wind coming into the storm starts to swirl and forms a funnel.

How damaging is a tornado?

Tornadoes are very damaging.
Tornadoes can take up your car and can tear your house apart and can cause the road to crack

A hurricane is a huge storm!
It can be up to 600 miles across and have strong wind spiraling inward and upward at speeds 75 to 200 mph.
Each hurricane usually lasts for over a week moving 10-20 mph over the open ocean.
Hurricanes gather heat and energy through contact with warm ocean waters.

What does hurricanes
When a hurricane is happening the sky turns dark grey and the clouds come down low.

How is a hurricane formed?
Hurricanes begin as tropical storms over the warm moist waters of the Atlantic and pacific oceans near the equator .
Near the Philippines and the China sea.
Hurricanes are called typhoons. As the moisture evaporates it rises until enormous amounts of heated air are twisted high in the atmosphere

Hurricanes are very damaging. They can cause a lot of flooding
