Expressions

Statements of value

Terms

A coefficient and a variable together

Coefficients

Numbers directly in front of symbols

Variables

Symbols representing a value

Equal/Equivalent

An expression or term that has the same value as another
You multiply the coefficient by the variable

Constant

A number in an Algebraic expression that is alone

Inverse Operation

The opposite Operation to the one you have (the inverse Operation to addition is subtraction)

Sadmep

Subtraction, addition, division, multiplication, exponents, parentheses

How to solve an equation

🙂

3+x=12

This is an equation.

3+x=12

We are trying to find the value of x.

3+x=12

You then use the inverse Operation. (in this case, the inverse option of addition is subtraction)

3-3=0 12-3=9

You then (in this operation is addition) subtract he number of the constant from itself, and the equivalent.

X=9

The number you get after using the inverse Operation on the equivalent is the value of the variable.
