Philip II

  • Came to Throne of Macedonia in 359, wanted to Unite all of Greece.
  • Athens waged a war Called Battle of Chaeronea.
  • Philip ended freedom to All City states
  • Was Assassinated, Next Up Alex!!!!!!

Alexander the Great

  • Was only 20 when he was King.
  • Had to Fulfill father's dream of Invading Persia.
  • Revenge for burning Athens

Cont.

  • Went to Asia Minor first then turned south to Syria, Palestine and Egypt.
  • He loved to Name cities after the captured them.
  • Died at age 32 from wounds and alcohol.

The Legacy

  • He was willing to risk his own life.
  • Sought to Imitate Achilles of the IIiad.
  • Alex keep that book and a dagger under his pillow.
  • Also left a Cultural Legacy; Language, architecture, literature spread with him.
