HIS BACKGROUND

  • Born at Ulm, in Württemberg, Germany
  • Born on March 14, 1878, died April 18, 1955
  • Family moved to Munich, then Italy
  • Got into Swiss Federal Polytechnic School
  • to become a teacher for physics and math

BACKGROUND

  • 1901, he gained his diploma
  • 1905, he got his doctor degree
  • Worked at a patent office because of he had trouble
  • finding a job. He made remarkable findings there
  • during his spare time.

BACKGROUND

  • In 1908, became Privatdozent in Berne
  • 1909, he became Professor Extraordinary at Zurich
  • 1911, he became a Professor of Theoretical Physics at Prague
  • In. 1914, he was appointed Director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Physical
  • Institute and Professor in the University of Berlin

FAMILY

  • Father- Hermann Einstein, Mother- Pauline Koch
  • Sister- Maja Einstein
  • Wives- Mileva Maric, Elsa Einstein-Löwentha
  • Children- Ilse Löwenthal, Margot Löwenthal
  • Lieserl Maric, Hans Albert Einstein, Eduard Einstein

Going on at that time
1921 - Nobel prize is given to Einstein
1914, World War 1 began. Einstein sign the anti war "Manifesto of Europeans."
1933- Adolf Hitler started his genocide
1939- World War 2 begins
Albert Einstein is working with President, and warns him that Germany might build nuclear weapons

WHAT HE DID

  • Brownian movement- the zigzag motion of microscopic particles in suspension.
  • The quantum theory of light- Einstein proposed that light is composed of separate packets of energy
  • theory of relativity- as long as the speed of light remains constant and natural laws are the same throughout universe
  • The link between mass and energy- E = mc2, relating mass and energy.
  • demonstrates that a small particle of matter contains a of energy. This forms much of the basis for nuclear energy.

Photoelectric Effect
Einstein proposed that under certain circumstances light can be considered as consisting of particles, but he also hypothesized that the energy carried by any light particle, called a photon, is proportional to the frequency of the radiation.

WHAT HE DID

  • He found out why the sky was blue
  • He invented a absorption refrigerator that ran on heat
  • He also laid the foundation of the first nuclear bomb.
