WRIGHT BROTHERS AND CRAIG VENTER

Technology has influenced America because everyday people are using technology to find new information quickly and easily. Technology is used for many things like phones, computers, etc. Now imagine living without your phone. You would actually have to look things up in a book!

The Wright Brothers were the inventors of the world's first successful airplane. It allows us to get from one place to another very quickly. They successfully conducted the first free, controlled flight of a power driven airplane.

Craig Venter discovered the human genome. The human genome is a series of DNA sequences and chromosomes as well. The human genome is the complete set of genetic information. This includes 23 pairs of chromosomes.

The human genome is more influential because it's used to diagnose medical and sometimes life threatening diseases while airplanes only transport people and cargo. The human genome can save lives.

WE CAN SURVIVE WITHOUT THE AIRPLANE

• Doctors and scientists use the human genome
• Used to diagnose chromosomal abnormalities
• Abnormalities that lead to diseases like down syndrome
• We can get places with other forms of transportation
• Cars are used more to get places than planes

IT COULD BE LIFE OR DEATH

• Genome can't kill you, but airplanes can malfunction
• People could die and no one would know why if there was no genome
• Airplanes can't show medical diseases
• You could never know your genes without the genome
• Airplanes could be considered dangerous

THE HUMAN GENOME PROJECT

• Future medical advancements based on genome
• Develop, treat, cure, and possibly prevent diseases
• Genome not discovered = no medical advances
• Airplane not invented = we still have cars and trains
• The genome is a blueprint for a person, airplane is just transportation

In conclusion, without the human genome people would be dying and no one would be able to determine the cause. It is important to determine these diseases and to find a cure or treatment.

Craig Venter is more influential than the Wright Brothers because he discovered something that has changed how people see their genes and how scientists can find a treatment for the diseases. The Wright Brothers, while they did invent an important thing that many people use, the airplane can't save lives like the genome.

TECHNOLOGY CHANGED AMERICA

• Use it everyday for basically everything
• This project is using technology
• We have more technology today than our parents ever did
• We couldn't imagine a life without computers or phones
• No technology = no medicine
