• BS degree in English/Psychology and MS degree in Curriculum and Instruction (technology)
• Love to read, travel, and try new restaurants/foods…and writing utensils…and research.
• I teach because I love watching light bulbs illuminate.

About this class

• AR – You will have point goals every grading period. 12% of your grade.
• Library – As a class we will usually go on Mondays. You can also go during class if necessary, but only at appropriate times.

• Word Within the Word (WWW) – 5 New stems every week. . .quizzes EVERY THURSDAY.
• Homework – Anything not finished in class; read AR book; study for WWW quizzes; other assignments as necessary.

• Reading and Writing – you will be doing A LOT of this! Texts will be more complex than the level classes.
• Time Management – Throughout the year, you will have several assignments going at the same time.

• Advanced Expectations – 80% or higher on report cards to stay in class. We will move fast and delve deep.
• Late Work – Points will be deducted for all late work. Major grades will not be accepted after 2 days late.

• Technology Agreement – Phones and personal devices can be used during class for assignments and class related tasks. There will be loss of tech privileges if tech is used for activities not directly related to the assignments (texting, games, pictures, etc.)

• Depth and Complexity – Think deeply about things. Never give me a shallow response because you “don’t want to think that hard”.
• Creativity – Randomness is not creativity. Creativity = Originality + Purposefulness
