DEFINITION

  • Addictive Personality disorder is a compulsive need to rely on someone or something.

What causes this disorder?

  • There is no one cause for Addictive Personality Disorder, but some theories include:
  • Biological causes
  • Emotional issues
  • and Social Causes

WHAT CAN YOU BECOME ADDICTED TO?

  • Drugs/ alcohol
  • People or objects
  • Gambling
  • Medias: Internet/ cell phones
  • Sex

SYMPTOMS

  • Many symptoms can be found in a person with Addictive personality disorder such as:
  • Paranoia
  • Irritability
  • Depression
  • Seeming to become obsessed or constantly rely on a certain thing.

THERAPY/TREATMENT

  • To recover it involves breaking physiological and psychological aspects of addiction.
  • Support groups
  • Counseling
  • Clinics
  • The rewarding feeling when your not addicted anymore.

PERSONAL NARRATIVE:LINDSAY LOHAN

  • Lindsay Lohan is a big example of someone who let her addictions get in the way of her career and life.
  • She was addicted to drugs and alcohol letting them take over her life.
  • She talks in regards to her drunk driving and drug taking, In an interview, saying, "it was totally irresponsible, and a huge mistake"

  • "...17% of boys and 13% of girls spent in excess 20 hours a week online".
