Active living is a way of life that merges physical activity into daily life.
I enjoy hiking in the snow...
...sledding with friends...
I maintain activity fairly well. I LOVE to hula hoop!
I'm good at horseback riding! And I love to do it!
I do my best to walk as much as I can
Weekly plan
- Monday nights I Go for a walk with mom to the beach
- Tuesday I walk to the coffee shop from school
- Wednesday I go horseback riding
- Thursday is also horseback riding
- Saturday I go to skiing
- Sunday is recovery day, meditation and yoga usually
I'm a big snowboarding fan, and my family and I go up to Silver Star almost every year to ski and snowboard
Bowling sounds fun to me. I rarely go, and haven't been in about 4 years or so.
I went up to Cougar Canyon last fall. A short hike, but a good one :)
We go hiking at Ellison park lots as a family
I would like to take a hula hooping class at the rec centre. it would be awesome to have a teacher show me more advanced moves!
Warming Up
and
Cooling Down
Warming up is done before exercising. Cooling down is what's done afterwards.
Warming Up
- Warming up your muscles is very important. Your muscles get warm and elastic like, making it easier and safer to move. If they are cold, they are tight, and tight muscles can rip.
Cooling Down
- Cooling down is just as important as warming up. If you are working out and just suddenly stop (especially in the winter) your muscles just tighten up, and you still run the risk of ripping your muscle. They cool down and tighten in the position you are in. It's best to stretch until they are cool. That way the cool down in such a way you won't be as sore after.
How to warm up
- Warm up for 5-10 minutes
- Start with some light jogging on the spot
- Then do some stretching. Stretch your neck, shoulders, thighs, calves, and back.
How to cool down
- This is pretty much like warming up.
- Light jogging on the spot
- And then some stretching
- This should only take about 10 minutes, but do it until your body is back to it's normal temperature
Good Nutrition
- It's important to maintain a balanced diet.
- Your body needs both good and bad sugars and fats.
Balanced Diet
- Having a balanced diet doesn't mean you have to follow a strict diet and only consume this many calories in a day.
- Having a balanced diet means you know what your body needs. Sometimes you need sugar to give you energy, of fat for extra warmth.
Nutritional Needs
- As of currently, I'm not as active as I'd like to be. I never seem to have enough time on my hands.
- Because I'm not getting a whole lot of exercise. I need to limit my calorie intake.
- If I eat to much calories then just sit around all day, my body won't be able to burn them off
Stressing Out!
- A state of mental, emotional strain, or tension resulting from adverse of very demanding circumstances
Reducing My Stress
- There isn't much I can do to relive my stress.
- A few things though: Singing, piano playing. hula hooping, and a walk at sunset/sun rise
Safety First
- being safe and taking precautions are very important, but even so there are still accidents. Here are some websites to help you know what to in case of an emergancy
Respect for Environment
- It's important to have respect the environment and others around you when participating in outdoor, public activites.
Short Story
- You're at the park, laying down in the fresh grass, it's quite. You shut your eyes, then suddenly you hear a scream! Jolting upright, you look around! A group of people are playing volleyball. You try to ignore them, laying back down and closing your eyes. Suddenly, the volleyball hits your tummy. "Sorry!" Someone yells
Think of Others
- When you're in public you need to be aware of others.
- Being aware means to look out for. Don't play any sports so close to someone that you might disturb or bother them. Find a space where you don't bother anyone, either with noise, or a volleyball on there tummy.
