ACID RAIN

Acid rain is caused by air pollution. The rain water pics up particles and gases. Some acids are helpful. The acid rain can kill animals, plants and humans. The acid can burn your skin.

It describes any form of precipitation with high levels of nitric acids. It can also occur in the form of snow, fog, and little bits of dry material that settles to earth.

Rotting vegetation erupting volcanoes release some chemicals that can caused acid rain, but most acid rain falls because of human activities. The biggest cause is the burning of fossil fuels.

Acid rain has many effects, but none is greater then its impact on lakes, streams, wetlands, and other water environments. It makes water acidic and causes them to absorb the aluminum that makes its way from soil into lakes and streams. It makes the water toxic to some aquatic animals some animals can tolerate it. It can also damage forests.
