In this context, we are referring to students' ability to access and utilize content.

When an educator utilizes thoughtful design for the blended and online classroom all students can access that content regardless of disability.

Why Should I be Concernered with Accessiblity?

Convince readers that fall is the best season (or why another season is better than fall).
Imagine that you are raking the leaves when you find something strange in the leaf pile.
Tell a story as if you are an autumn leaf. What is it like to change colors and then to fall off of a tree?

The Importance of Accessibility

• Accessible design improves the experance for all students
• Sleeper disablities
• Content not hosted on the web such as Power Points used in class can beniffit from thoughtful design.

Tips for Teachers

• Use clear, consistent layouts and organization for presenting content.
• Use large, bold fonts on uncluttered pages with plain backgrounds.
• Use color combinations that are high contrast: Dark on Light and Light on Dark.
• Use built-in layouts, designs, and accessibility tools

• Caption or transcribe video and audio content or stick to video and audio that already has these.
• Utilize the description box when uploading images.
