ABRAHAM'S CHILDHOOD

  • Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky.
  • Abraham was named after his grandfather, who was killed by Indians.
  • When Abraham was seven years old, they moved to Spencer County in Indiana.
  • Before Abraham's 10th birthday he had lost two family members.
  • His mother died two years later from 'milk sickness'.

ABRAHAM'S CHILDHOOD

  • He also had a younger brother that died in infancy.
  • Abraham soon had a new stepmother, Sarah Bush Johnston.

ABRAHAM'S TEENAGE YEARS

  • He received little formal education.
  • In 1830, his family moved to Illinois.
  • He helped his father build a log cabin and clear land.
  • He worked as a boatman, store clerk, surveyor, and militia soldier.
  • Abraham's life was filled with sadness but also with greatness.

ABRAHAM'S PRESIDENCY

  • He is the 16th president of the United States.
  • He is known as one of the greatest presidents.
  • He was president for 2 terms.
