  • One-third of girls aged 8 to 17 have a distorted idea about their weight
  • 14% of normal weight girls believe themselves to be overweight
  • 45% of girls who were overweight believed they were normal weight

For girls ages 8-12, aspirations after high school are largely educational and professional: 93% for college education; 76% for a career; 67% for marriage; and, 63% for children.
