BY LOGAN KONOSKY

Second brand-new Boeing 737 Max crash in 5 months raises questions, 346 dead

I GOT THIS ARTICLE FROM NEW YORK TIMES

AND ALSO GOT SOME INFO ABOUT THE TIME AND FLIGHT NUMBERS FROM FIGHTER JETS WORLD

THE DATE OF THE ARTICLE WAS 01/14/19 AND 03/10/19

WHAT IS HAPPENING

  • About 5 months ago on October 29 JT610 was heading from Jakarta to Pangkal Panang 6 minuets after takeoff the crew requested to head back to Jakarta due to a technical problemwhen it went into a nosedive and 51 minutes after takeoff the 737 Max 8 slammed into the ocean killing all 188 passengers onboard.

WHAT IS HAPPENING (CONTINUED)

  • On March 10 ET320 Max 8 departed from Nairobi Heading to Addis Ababa and less than a minute later issued a distress call to Nairobi ATC. The ATC told them to head back to the airport but 6 minuets after takeoff all contact from the flight vanished. The crash killed all 157 people onboard.

WHAT IS HAPPENING (CONTINUED)

  • Because of the 2 crashes Argentina (Aerolíneas Argentinas) Australia Austria Belgium Brazil (GOL Linhas Aéreas) Canada Cayman Islands China Ethiopia EASA member states

WHAT IS HAPPENING (CONTINUED)

  • France Germany Iceland India Indonesia Ireland Italy Malaysia Mexico (Aeromexico) Mongolia (MIAT Mongolian Airlines) Morocco (Royal Air Maroc)

WHAT IS HAPPENING (CONTINUED)

  • Netherlands Norway (Norwegian) Oman Poland Singapore South Africa (Comair) South Korea (Eastar Jet) Turkey United Kingdom (TUI Airways) United States have all banned the 737 Max family from their airspace

IS THIS STILL HAPPENING AND WHERE IS IT HAPPENING

  • The Lion Air Crash took place on October 29th and the investigation is still going about why it crashed and the crash took place of the coast of Indonesia.
  • The Ethiopian Airlines Crash happened on a mountain in Bishoftu, Ethiopia and the investigation is still going on.

I THINK THE AUTHOR WAS TRYING TO EXPLAIN/DESCRIBE

  • Because he was not persuading you to do anything
  • And airplane crashes are not entertaining they are usually sad
  • And he was mostly explaining and describing the crashes

WHY IS THIS NEWSWORTHY (CONTINUED)

  • Boeing will have spent a lot of money buying materials for 737 Max 7, 8, 9, and 10 just to have the planes sit out with no airline owner.

WHY IS THIS NEWSWORTHY

  • This means that some airlines may start doubting Boeing’s safety and switch from buying Boeing to other company’s.

WHY I CHOOSE TO WRITE ABOUT THIS

  • I LOVE planes
  • I LOVE to write about planes
  • I want to be a pilot when I grow up
  • I think watching planes is really entertaining (but not watching them crash)

I CHOOSE THE HISTORICAL LENS

  • Because this is the 2nd time a 737 Max 8 has crashed in 5 months
  • The Lion Air Crash is the second worst Air Crash in Indonesia history and the Ethiopian Crash was one of the worst in Africa history.

ALSO I CHOOSE THE ECONOMICAL LENS

  • This costed Boeing a lot of money because they just have lots of planes lying around with no airline to fly with.

ALSO I CHOOSE THE GEOGRAPHICAL LENS

  • The article sort of explained where the plane crashed where it took off where it took of to how far of course it was from the flight plan etc...
