7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I feel that I have made an amazing improvement and a big progression with my media skills, as my final product looks a lot better than my first attempt at a magazine cover.
I spent a lot more time analysing other music magazines in my main task than what I did in my preliminary. This allowed me to pick up on other codes and conventions, and enabling me to use them in my own magazine.
Learning about all get important distributing industry's and tricks of the magazine trade along with being able to use programmes such as Photoshop and In Design, I became more technologically advanced. As in my preliminary task, these uses were limited.
I also feel like I have developed a wider understanding of the importance of an image on a front cover. Before hand I would have had less knowledge of how the image should be taken, the lighting that should be used and the positioning on the he page.
As well as the cover lines and masthead, I feel like my music magazine is a lot more professional and polished looking than the ones featured in my preliminary task.
I do believe this is due to the more advanced experience of Photoshop and more knowledge about the codes and conventions of other magazines. As I look back on my preliminary task I feel that it is very amateur and childish looking.
Overall, my knowledge of media has increased greatly due to the time and effort that I spent on creating my own cover page, contents page and double page spread for my music magazine and it was a process I really enjoyed.
As a media student, I feel that my understanding and knowledge has grown a lot which has increased my confidence when approaching the world of media.
