Pink Floyd got its name when member Syd Barrett named the band by combining the names of two East Coast blues men - Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.

When the band was creating their first album, it was recorded on Abbey Road in 1967, directly adjacent to The Beatles, who were recording Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at the time.
