BARIUM

  • Symbol: Ba
  • Atomic Number: 56
  • Fifth element in the second group
  • It a softy silvery metallic alkaline earth metal
  • Exists naturally but also can occurs with others
  • Found combined with sulfur, carbon, oxygen
  • Discovered in 1808
  • Its a very light weight but half of iron's density
  • Melting point at 1,341 F*
  • Boiling point at 3,447 F*
  • Density 3.62
  • 20 C* its state's a solid
  • Rapidly tarnishes in air and reacts with water
  • Not an extensively used element
  • Produced from China, India, and Usa
